Guided Journaling, Made Simple

A Few Honest Minutes With Yourself, Every Day

Talkie Diary pairs guided journaling prompts with short mindfulness exercises and self-care routines, so reflecting on your day fits into it instead of competing with it.

How It Works

Three Steps, Most Days Under Ten Minutes

Talkie Diary is built around a small, repeatable loop rather than a long list of features to learn.

1

Pick a Prompt

Choose from journaling prompts sorted by mood, from morning pages to evening wind-downs, and skip the blank-page stare.

2

Write for Five Minutes

Set a timer and write without editing yourself. Talkie Diary prompts are written to get you past the first sentence fast.

3

Build the Habit

Pair today's entry with a short mindfulness exercise or a self-care routine so the practice holds up on your busy days too.

Why Talkie Diary Started

Built by People Who Kept Quitting Their Journals

Talkie Diary started in Nashville in 2019, when a handful of writers and longtime journaling teachers got tired of apps that felt like homework. Every one of us had a stack of half-used notebooks and a habit that never made it past week two.

So we built something smaller on purpose: a short prompt, a few minutes of quiet, and a routine you can actually keep up with. We still write and test every prompt ourselves before it goes on the site, and we still keep the whole thing based in Nashville.

Real Notes From Real Journals

A few words from people who've made Talkie Diary part of their week.

"I used to stare at a blank page for ten minutes before giving up. The prompts get me writing in the first thirty seconds, and I actually look forward to it now."

Megan O'Donnell
Portland, OR

"The five-minute breathing exercises are the only mindfulness thing I've stuck with longer than a week. I do one before every big meeting."

Carlos Mendoza
Denver, CO

"My evening routine used to be scrolling my phone until I fell asleep. Now it's ten minutes with my journal and a cup of tea, and my mornings are so much better for it."

Building a Self-Care Routine That Sticks

Most routines fail because they start too big. Here's how to pick the one habit worth keeping, and attach it to something you already do.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything people usually ask before they write their first entry.

Do I need any journaling experience to start?
No. Talkie Diary's prompts are written for first-time journalers as much as people who have kept a diary for years. There's no right way to answer a prompt, and no one reads your entries but you.
How much time does Talkie Diary take each day?
Most entries take five to ten minutes. A mindfulness exercise usually takes less than five. You can spend longer if you want to, but nothing on Talkie Diary is built to require it.
Is my journal private?
Yes. What you write is yours. We don't publish, share, or read individual entries. See our Privacy Policy for the full details on what information we do collect and how it's used.
Is Talkie Diary free?
Yes, you can start journaling with Talkie Diary at no cost. Every prompt, mindfulness exercise, and self-care routine on the site is free to read and use.
Can these exercises replace therapy or medical care?
No. Journaling and mindfulness exercises can be a helpful addition to professional care, not a substitute for it. If you're working with a therapist or doctor, treat Talkie Diary as something extra, not a replacement. If you're in crisis, please contact a mental health professional or local emergency services.
