Last updated: January 6, 2025

Who We Are

Talkie Diary ("Talkie Diary," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at talkiediary.com (the "Site"). We are based in Nashville, Tennessee. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices available to you as a United States resident. This policy does not apply to information you write in a private journal, notebook, or another company's app; it applies only to information collected through this website.

Information We Collect

We collect two general categories of information.

  • Information you provide directly. When you use the contact form on our Site, we collect your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically collect certain technical information when you visit, including your browser type, device type, an approximate location derived from your IP address, the pages you view, and how you arrived at the Site.

You do not need to create an account to read the journaling prompts, mindfulness exercises, or self-care routines on the Site, and we do not collect the contents of any journal entries you write on paper or in another application.

How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to messages sent through our contact form.
  • To understand how visitors use the Site, so we can improve our content and fix problems.
  • To maintain the security and proper functioning of the Site.
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use the contact information you send us to send unsolicited marketing email, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Cookies

The Site uses a small number of cookies to remember your cookie preference and to gather basic, aggregated analytics about how the Site is used. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking cookies may affect some features of the Site, though the core content will continue to work normally.

How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information with a small number of service providers who help us operate the Site, such as hosting and email delivery providers, under agreements that limit their use of your information to the services they provide us. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Talkie Diary, our users, or the public.

Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA"), gives you certain rights over the personal information we collect about you. These include:

  • Right to Know. You may request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, and the purposes for which it is used.
  • Right to Delete. You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Right to Correct. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing. Talkie Diary does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA, so there is currently nothing to opt out of. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide a way to opt out.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination. We will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of service because you exercised any of your privacy rights.

To submit a request under the CCPA, email us at contact@talkiediary.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request." We may need to verify your identity before completing your request, and you may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

Other State Privacy Rights

Residents of certain other states, including Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut, may have similar rights to access, correct, or delete personal information under their own state privacy laws. If you live in one of these states and would like to exercise a right under your state's law, contact us using the information below and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Data Retention and Security

We keep contact form submissions only as long as needed to respond to your message and for a reasonable period afterward for our records, unless a longer retention period is required by law. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information you send us, though no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@talkiediary.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page from time to time.
